What type of hotel key card do I need - RFID or magnetic stripe?
It depends entirely on your door locking system. RFID (contactless) key cards work by tapping or holding the card near a reader and are the most common in hotels built or refurbished in the last decade. Magnetic stripe cards require the guest to swipe or insert the card into a slot reader and are still widely used in older properties. If you are unsure which technology your locks use, check the brand of your lock system. Common RFID systems include Assa Abloy VingCard, Dormakaba, Salto, and Onity. If you are still not sure, send us a sample of your existing card or the name of your lock supplier and we will confirm the correct specification before we print a single card.

Which lock brands are your hotel key cards compatible with?
Our hotel key cards are compatible with all major hotel door lock systems, including Assa Abloy VingCard, ISEO, Allegion (Schlage), Saflok, TESA, Kaba, Onity, Salto, Dormakaba, and Mifare-based systems. If your lock brand is not listed, get in touch - in most cases we can still supply the correct card. We verify compatibility before production so you are not at risk of ordering the wrong specification.

What is the difference between HiCo and LoCo magnetic stripe?
HiCo (high coercivity) and LoCo (low coercivity) refer to the magnetic strength of the stripe on the card. HiCo stripes are significantly more resistant to demagnetisation and will not be wiped by contact with mobile phones, other cards, or everyday magnetic fields. For hotel key cards, which are handled multiple times a day and carried in wallets alongside bank cards and phones, HiCo is strongly recommended. LoCo cards are less expensive but far more prone to failure in real-world hotel use.

What is your minimum order quantity for hotel key cards?
Our minimum order is just 25 cards. Whether you operate a small boutique hotel needing a top-up or a large chain placing an initial order, we can accommodate you. Larger quantities benefit from significantly lower unit costs - contact us for a personalised quote.

How long does it take to produce and deliver hotel key cards?
Standard turnaround is approximately 7 working days from approval of your artwork. All orders include free delivery within Great Britain. If you have an urgent deadline, contact us to discuss your requirements and we will advise on the fastest available option.

Can I have my hotel branding printed on the key cards?
Yes - every card we produce is printed in full colour (CMYK) to both sides at no extra cost. You can include your logo, brand colours, photography, promotional messages, QR codes, barcodes, sequential numbering, and more. Hotel key cards are handled by guests an average of six or more times per day, making them one of the most cost-effective branded items available to a hotel.

What artwork format do you need?
We accept artwork as PDF, AI, or EPS files at a minimum resolution of 300dpi, with a 3mm bleed on all sides. If you do not have print-ready artwork, our design service is available from just 20 pounds plus VAT. We also offer an artwork fixing service if your files need minor adjustments before print.

Are your hotel key cards encoded, or do I encode them myself?
We supply hotel key cards manufactured to the correct specification for your lock system, ready for encoding at your front desk using your existing property management system and encoder. Encoding (programming each card for individual guest stays) is carried out on-site by your team as normal. If you require pre-encoded cards or have a more complex requirement, contact us and we will advise on the best solution.

Do you offer eco-friendly hotel key card options?

Can I order replacement or top-up cards once my initial order is complete?
Yes. Hotels replace key cards regularly due to loss, damage, and wear. Once we have your artwork and card specification on file, reorders are straightforward and typically turn around faster than the initial order. There is no need to re-submit artwork or re-confirm your specification each time.

Do you offer a physical proof before the full order goes to print?
Yes. In addition to our free photorealistic email proof, we can print a real plastic hotel key card from your artwork and post it to you for approval. This physical proof lets you check colours, layout, finish, and overall quality in person - and also allows you to test any barcodes or encoded magnetic stripes with your own system before committing to the full run.
