A certification card gets pulled out of a wallet on cold, wet sites for years. Laminated paper delaminates and fades; a rigid plastic card looks as credible in year three as day one — and credible matters when the card is evidence of competence.

Why wallet cards outperform paper certificates

A paper certificate proves a qualification on the day it is issued — then it goes in a drawer. A wallet-sized certification card travels with the holder, so proof of training is available at the moment it is asked for: on site, at reception, or at the start of a shift. For time-limited qualifications this matters even more. First aid at work certificates, for example, are valid for three years, and the HSE recommends requalification before expiry — a card with a printed expiry date makes the renewal conversation happen on time.
